2023Commissioned by Dutch postal company PostNL, I got the great honor to design a new collection of national stamps. The series, titled ‘Echt Hollands’, replaces the former collection and will be for sale permantly.
Each hand-drawn design is inspired by typical Dutch culture, quirky traditions and something that we call ‘gezelligheid’. By adding a mix of contemporary and nostalgic details I created a collection of timeless, cheerful miniature scenes for everyone to enjoy.
The repeating background shapes refer to classic Dutch textile patterns and the typography is inspired by Dutch stamp designs from the 1970s.
The series consists of 10 different designs for domestic use, a separate sheet of 5 stamps for international mail, and a roll of 50 international stamps. They are available at every PostNL service point throughout The Netherlands and online.
